This 1967 Mercury Cougar is reported to be a California car from new and is powered by a replacement 302ci Ford V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The engine was sourced from a Fox-body Mustang and was reportedly built with a mild camshaft, Edelbrock cylinder heads and intake manifold, and upgraded ignition system. The seller has added approximately 2,000 miles during a yearlong ownership. This Cougar is offered with records from the seller and previous owner, engine build and dyno sheets, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted approximately 10 years ago under previous ownership, and the finish is shown up close in several gallery photos below. A few minor scratches are described around the bodywork.
Chromed steel wheels wear matching hubcaps and beauty rings, and are shod in a set of Hankook Optimo tires that are said to have less than 3k miles. Additional gallery photos show the vinyl top in greater detail.
The interior is finished in black vinyl with factory-style patterns. Additions reportedly include a replacement dashboard, carpet kit, and wood-rimmed steering wheel. Approximately 80k miles are indicated on the 5-digit odometer. Lap belts are provided for all occupants.
The original 289ci V8 reportedly seized in 2015 and was pulled in favor of a 302ci Ford V8 sourced from a Fox-body Mustang under previous ownership. The 302 was reportedly built with Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads and a mild camshaft, and a stock 4-barrel carburetor sits atop an Edelbrock intake manifold.
